■ Abstract:

The paper presents the current data on the gluten-sensitive enteropathy (celiac disease). It is shown that at the present time understanding of gluten-sensitive enteropathy has changed from a relatively rare malabsorption to common diseases of many organs with a strong genetic predisposition that is mostly associated with DQ2 and DQ8 antigens of major histocompatibility complex (HLA). Diagnostic of the disease has also changed due to the appearance of tests for celiac disease-specific antibodies, which are mainly based on the detection of antibodies to tissue transglutaminase type 2 (TG2). Presents diagnostic criteria for gluten-sensitive enteropathy, which are based on technical and technological developments by using an approach based on experimental data, are presented.
