Modern conceptions of Kawasaki disease in children

■ Abstract:

Article is devoted to the most frequently encountered in pediatrics systemic vasculitis - Kawasaki disease. This disease is associated with risk of myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death in children and young adults and is now recognized as the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children. Historical aspects and current views on the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of Kawasaki disease are presented. The material is a generalization of the data of domestic and foreign literature and personal experience of the author.
